Welcome to The Writing Desk, delivering monthly insights into writing, publishing, and the business of storytelling.

My name is Amy, and I love stories.

Hailing from the sunny island of Malta, I am a writer, editor, and former agency reader with a Master's in Publishing and Creative Writing from Kingston University London. Over the last decade, I've been working with agents, publishers, authors, and readers to find and develop stories with an impact. I've been involved in projects ranging from grassroots publications such as the Stejjer Imfewħa artistic heritage initiative to longstanding periodicals including THINK magazine and Encore arts and culture. I also participate as a reader for the UK-based WriteMentor children's writing awards.

When it comes to writing, my work has been shortlisted for both PRH's Write Now Scheme and Gollancz's Rivers of London Award (now the Future Worlds Prize), with short pieces published in Ember Journal and CRAFT Literary, among others. I’d love you to join me on my writing and editing journey, and of course, if you want to know more about my services, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
